MAPLE BOURBON PEAR SAUCE
If you need a delicious side or a dessert, try these pears. I needed to use up overripe pears but you can make this with apples if you prefer. An even healthier snack is to just eat a pear or an apple but it's the holidays so I made it festive.

Ingredients
3 pounds ripe pears (mine were organic Bartlett). Once cored and rotten spots removed they were sliced. Final weight 2 pounds, 11 ounces
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
3 TBSP maple syrup
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
3 TBSP bourbon
Instructions
Cook on low simmer for about 40 minutes or until desired tenderness, stirring frequently. About half way through add cinnamon, nutmeg and maple syrup. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and bourbon. Can serve warm or chilled.
