OVEN FRIES FOR DINNER FOR THE WIN
What can a vegan call oven baked potatoes shaped like this? I do not want to call them "steak" fries. They are not typical French fries. They are not wedges. They are delicious. I steamed 2 small and 3 medium whole Russet potatoes in my Instant Pot for 10 minutes. I sliced the potatoes after they had cooled just enough to handle and placed slices on parchment lined baking trays. I added seasoning and baked in oven 450 degrees until started to turn brown, about 20-25 minutes. I prefer the texture of these potatoes compared to when I used to bake them raw or when I used to boil them briefly then bake. I don't have an air fryer but people say steaming then air frying makes fabulous French fries. My favorite thing to dip my oven fries in is a mixture of unsweetened ketchup and dill pickle mustard.
My husband likes typical baked potatoes and buys the large Russet baking potatoes. I steam those for 15 minutes before baking them whole.
Dinner does not have to be complicated. We are totally satisfied with just potatoes for dinner and have that at least once a week.
You can see by this short video clip by Dr. John McDougall that potatoes are healthy:
If that is not enough to convince you, check out “Spud Fit.” Andrew Taylor went on an all potato diet for a year, lost over 100 pounds and gained back his health.
People are often mistaken into believing potatoes are fattening. What is fattening is when people load their potatoes with butter, sour cream, and bacon or deep fry their potatoes in oil to make French fries.
