ANTS ON A LOG

I had an evening meeting one night and missed dinner. By the time I got home I was overly hungry. Desperate to find some quick yet healthy food, I made for the first time ever, ANTS ON A LOG. I must say they were delicious! Did you know that the 2nd Tuesday in September is National Ants On A Log Day?

The adorable picture below is from a site called “Just A Pinch Recipes”: ANTS ON A LOG. This would be a fun snack to create with children. Purchase peanut butter that is made with only ground roasted nuts or perhaps has a little added salt. You can use different nut butters and dried fruits if you prefer.

When I was younger I heard that it takes more calories to digest celery than what was actually in the celery. Well, this is not true but it is still a great food to facilitate weight loss. Here is info from Dr. Greger:
"Celery adds bulk and flavor to meals while being low in calories. Researchers undertook a study to find out whether celery took more energy to digest, assimilate, and store than the calories it contains. They found that the 16 calories in about two cups of celery took 14 calories to digest, leaving two calories. Combined with its high fiber and water content, celery is helpful in a diet for weight loss or management."
